How should I use Ear Drops?
Reading time: about 2 minutes
Earwax is a substance naturally produced by the ceruminous glands present in the external ear canal. Its primary purpose is to protect the ear by trapping dust, dirt, and other foreign particles, preventing them from entering the inner ear, where they could cause damage or infections.
Under normal conditions, earwax is produced continuously and gradually moves toward the ear opening, where it dries up and falls away on its own or during face washing. However, in some situations, earwax can accumulate excessively, causing symptoms such as a sensation of a blocked ear, decreased hearing, or ear discomfort. In such cases, a treatment involving water-based or oil-based solutions may be necessary, such as the use of ear drops that soften the earwax and promote its removal.
How to use ear drops?
Before touching the ear or the drops, it's important to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water. This helps prevent contamination of the bottle and infections in the area. First, take out the bottle of ear drops and gently shake it to mix the components. Let a small amount of the product fall onto your hand to check its temperature. To avoid the discomfort caused by the cold sensation inside the ear canal, lightly rub the bottle, but not excessively.
Lie down or sit comfortably with the ear to be treated facing upward. If someone can assist with the procedure, it's always advisable.
By gently pulling the earlobe upward to open the ear canal, let the amount of drops specified in the usage instructions fall into the ear. Gently massage the area around the ear to help the product distribute evenly. Wait for about five minutes while keeping your head tilted. If necessary, repeat the treatment for the other ear. Make sure to tightly close the bottle of drops after use and store it under the conditions specified on the packaging. Finally, wash your hands again; this is important to avoid cross-contamination.
Always remember to follow the instructions provided on the product to ensure the correct and safe use of ear drops, and if the problem persists, consult a doctor.
